The Exorcist
scared the crap out of me when I was a kid.
While slow paced compared to the movies produced today, The Exorcist still stands out as one of the scariest movies of all time. The Exorcist
changed the genre and scared several generations of movie watchers. Even at 37 years old, The Exorcist still scares and entertains.

Trick ‘r Treat (2008)
was the first Halloween movie I was excited about in a long time. While the actual release wasn’t exactly what I expected, it was a fun romp for a Halloween and horror/thriller movie fan. Several stories are weaved together and if you pay close attention, you can see things in the background from one of the other tales. While I didn’t find Trick ‘r Treat (2008)
scary, it was enjoyable and certainly put me in the Halloween mood.

If you read critic reviews and commentary on Night of the Living Dead
, you could be left with a sense of wonderment on what the movie is really about. It’s almost like poetry in that people interpret it’s meaning and purpose in ways that the original creators may not have intended. No matter what you believe it’s about in the end, Night of the Living Dead
is a pivotal part of horror history.
I suggest the original black and white version. Something about the black and white makes it creepier and the color version ruins some of the “filling in” your imagination does of it’s own accord.

Save all the booing and hissing! I know there are plenty of people that hate the Scream Trilogy
. Scream
made way for a string of 1990′s teen screams that just didn’t live up to what Scream
started.
If you’re a horror movie buff, the Scream Trilogy is worth watching for the inside jokes and references to classic horror movies even if you don’t enjoy the movies themselves.

Creepy and actually on the verge of scary, The Ring managed to draw me in and take me for a ride. Make sure if you get the version of the DVD that has the choice to either “Play Movie” or “Don’t Watch This” that you watch what it tells you not to. I promise your phone won’t ring and you won’t die… at least I didn’t.
When I first watched Stir of Echoes, I was on the edge of my seat. The first 10 minutes set the tone for the rest of the movie. Rarely am I unnerved, but this movie kept me rapt.
Stir of Echoes is an underrated movie that doesn’t get much attention. Kevin Bacon does an excellent job and his obsession with the events unfolding add to the creepiness factor. I’ve used and probably overused my favorite line from this movie for years now. “Look what I’m not cleaning up!”

Shaun of the Dead
is a British black comedy that embraces its zombie horror genre, while delivering laughs at the zombie nature of our current society. Sometimes childish and silly, Shaun of the Dead
also manages some tense scenes as the characters deal with the zombie invasion that has plagued London.
Originally made as an avatar/icon for a customer’s profile, this simple vampire became a beloved character with a personality of her own.
